Me Time

Why do I do it? Is it lack of will power? A desire to wear myself out completely? A knackered sleep pattern? Why on earth would any sane person stay up until the early hours knowing full well their youngest will then wake up intermittently until 6.30am. Utter madness!

I tell you why. Me Time. I have more energy and am more alert for those few hours than I am the rest of the day put together. My time to myself is precious, valuable and not to be wasted. At the moment I am massively excited about joining Team Honk and climbing Mt Snowdon. I have spent tonight making arrangements, setting up my sponsor page, emailing, tweeting and facebooking to make sure everyone knows about it.

The time now is 1am. I am in bed typing this on my phone while its still fresh in my mind. Its crazy, I know that. Honestly I do. It gets to 10.30pm and I think "Right, I'll just finish this and go to bed". Then it doesn't work or I think of something else that needs doing and before I know it, it's 1am.

Surely I can't be the only one who struggles with this? I know my husband does, we are as bad as each other! Is this a common problem with the modern world? Does everyone struggle with a lack of Me Time? How do we go about changing it?

I need to plan a bedtime and stick to it. I can't go on with so little sleep, its ridiculous! I am a fool to myself, Mum was right! A plan. I need a plan

Tomorrow - I will make a plan tomorrow.

So here i am. Its 6.30am and I'm sat watching Waybuloo with Chaos who isn't feeling too good. I feel heavy with lack of sleep and my eyes are sore and struggling to focus. How on earth am I going to make it through the day like this?!

I think its time to sit down with my husband and work out some time for these things during the day. Maybe we could have a few hours on alternate days so we can do those little "Me Time" things. Either that or set an alarm so we know to go to bed. We get so engrossed in what we are doing we forget the time completely.
Ironically, if we are watching tv I fall asleep and he wakes me up when he starts dozing so we go to bed! Crazy, I know.

I think if we are both getting some time to ourselves on a regular basis, we won't need to burn the midnight oil to get things done. We definitely need more sleep a night so setting a bedtime is a MUST!
I am open to suggestions and would love to hear what has worked for you.

  1. I'm the same. The funny thing is though, I feel tired all day right until the kids go to bed then suddenly I am wide awake, then I sit up until silly O'clock doing random stuff and blogging. Then I do it all over again the next day!

  2. I am so the same and write all my best posts late at night, then read a little bit of a good book in bed fighting sleep to extend my Me Time! Fab to be on the Team Honk team though, that would keep me up planning to!

    1. Thank you Fiona and Sarah! I'm glad you understand. I felt a right plonker typing this post but I think it must be a common problem. We are all crazy busy or tied up with the kids. If I find a solution I'll post it here!!
